Arja: Balinese Opera at PKB

It was really crowded, lot of people both local and tourists. PKB (Pesta Kesenian Bali) is a big annual event of Balinese art & cultures which is located in Art Center, Denpasar. This event held for a month start from 15th June till 15th July 2013. It's always interesting to hunt photographs here and lucky I got these photos of 'Arja' :)

Quoted from wikipedia:
Arja is a kind of Balinese opera, it is something like drama dance which is the dialog are told by singing and called 'macepat'. Arja is one of very popular art among the Balinese. Arja name probably derived from the word 'Reja' (Sanskrit) which means "beauty". The music is usually used to accompany Arja called "Gaguntangan" softly-spoken and tunable so as to add to the beauty of the song that was sung by the dancers.
Arja is predicted appear in the 1820s, during the reign of King Klungkung, I Dewa Agung Sakti. Towards the end of the 20th century was born 'Arja Muani', where all of the players are male, mostly playing as a woman. Arja was greeted with great enthusiasm by the public, especially as presenting fresh comedy.
