Review and Specs: Canon EOS 70D

Canon EOS 70D, oh god... I just bought my 60D :(

After releasing Canon EOS 700D to replace Canon 650D, Canon now also renew its middle-class DSLR camera Canon 60D. Canon EOS 70D is now presented with a series of new features and technologies that make it superior to the previous version, the Canon EOS 60D.

In terms of body design, the Canon EOS 70D still inherits the design concept of 60D. Its body is still equipped with a touch screen measuring 3-inch flexible that can be rotated, suitable for those who like to experiment with taking pictures from different angles. Inside, embedded APS-C CMOS sensor with 20.2 megapixel resolution coupled with DIGIC 5+ image processors.

Canon EOS 70D is also the first Canon camera which is equipped with the latest autofocus technological innovations namely Dual Pixels CMOS AF technology which is more optimal for capturing photo and video. This Dual Pixels CMOS AF technology promises faster autofocus performance in Live View mode and focus movements smoother and more accurate in video mode.

So how do this technologies work? Dual Pixels CMOS AF works by utilizing the latest CMOS sensor architecture that enables two photodiode mounted in each pixel on the sensor. The second photodiode is designed to be able to work independently to achieve a faster autofocus performance or can also work together to capture images with maximum image quality results in all shooting situations.

To maximize this new autofocus technology, Canon EOS 70D completed with 19-point auto focus as his older brother Canon EOS 7D. Determining focus when photographing or video recording will be more flexible with 19-point auto focus. In addition there are other available features like WiFi connectivity, Intelligent viewfinder, HDR mode, Filter Effect, multiple exposure mode that allows the user to generate 1 photograph of 9 images with different exposures, and buried Speedlite transmitter to control one or multiple Canon Speedlite Flash for wireless.

Canon EOS 70D will be priced at around USD1,199 body only and USD1,340 with kit lens EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM.

Hi, my name's Duwi Mertiana, I was born & live in Bali (People called it Paradise Island whereas actually this is not really paradise anymore), but I love to live and grow on this island. Well, actually I'm not a photographer. I just a men with SLR camera. I like to shoot everything interesting for me and do some images processing on computer. No matters what people says about my photos, this is my arts :)
